“Dude.” Rush pulls his door shut as I slide into the car. “Holy fucking sexual tension.”

Pushing the button on the dashboard, Rush starts the car as I pull my door closed and put on my seatbelt. “Stop reading into shit.”

“Right,” he says sarcastically. Throwing the car in drive, he whips it around and heads back down the driveway. “Well, if you don’t fuck her, I can’t promise you that I won’t.”

Subconsciously, I crack my knuckles and cut my eyes at him. “If you even think about touching her, I will beat you until your brains are coming out of your nose.”

“Of course you will.” Rush glances at me with a smirk. “But if I’m just reading into shit, why are you getting so pissed?”

“Fuck you,” I mumble as I tear my eyes away from him and glance out the window.

“There’s nothing for me to read into, Axe.” Rush slows the car to a stop just outside the gate and he checks for traffic. “You’re just pissed because you know I’m right.”

My back is slammed against my seat as Rush peels out of the driveway and his tires screech as he whips the car out onto the road. With his foot on the gas, we speed down the Miami streets in silence with his words hanging in the air.

He is right and I fucking hate it.
